Holdback Checks for 2015 in the Mail

Dear Stakeholders,

The staff of the New York Thoroughbred Breeding and Development Fund has completed the second check release of the week. Heading your way via the U.S. Postal Service are checks for the ten percent that was withheld from the awards your horses earned for all six periods of 2015 (awards earned from January 1 through December 31, 2015.)

Here’s a chart showing how the $1.55 million we are sending breaks down by category:

Award type     Award amount       Number of awards

Breeder            $1,104,984.95                  5,732

Stallion             $268,938.39                     2,981

Owner               $181,777.88                        875

Total                  $1,555,701.22                   9,588

Congratulations and please remember to use your social platforms to tell the world why they should breed, buy and race registered NY-breds!

HEADS-UP ABOUT YOUR 1099 FOR 2015

I’d like to take this opportunity to inform you that the 1099’s that the Fund will be sending to you and reporting to the IRS will reflect only the money that was actually paid out to you during calendar year 2015. Since the 1099 amounts are based on the date of payment, the 1099 will include:

  • Award payments from the sixth period of 2014
  • The 2014 holdback payment
  • The 2014 supplemental payment
  • Award payments for periods one to five of 2015

Warm regards to all,

Tracy Egan, Executive Director

The Fund
