outside by Chin Yang for the drive an got to within two and one-half lengths
of Chicago's Girl with a solid furlong to go. It appeared Rodriguez could feel
the pressure from Watrals Strike Go and asked his mount with left handed pressure.
Chicago's Girl felt the stick and gave Rodriguez more and drew off to score
by just over five lengths. Watrals Strike Go finished second best with Winloc's
Majesty besting Ifeelmisty for the show. Chicago's Girl covered the distance
over a fast strip in 1:44.71 and was awarded $12,240. Chicago's Girl now has

Practical Stan scores in $20,400 state-bred feature
Charlton Baker's owned and trained PRACTICAL STAN rallied with Paul Nicol
JR. in the saddle to best Midnight Secret by three-quarters of a length in today's
$20,400 allowance feature. Practical Stan's last victory was way back on June
11 against never won three allowance types where he rallied from slightly off
the pace going one mile and seventy yards to score by a neck over Coleslew.
Practical Stan came right back two weeks later against never won four rivals
at the same distance and rallied again to prove best by a length and one-half.
Today's score was Practical Stan's third of the year. Five rivals went to post
which had never won two sate-bred races other than going one mile and seventy
yards. All were shooting for the $12,240 winner's share. Practical Stan was
sent off as the 8 to 5 choice with Flying Zee Stable's Midnight Secret second
in the wagering at $2.55 to 1. Midnight Secret was coming off two back-to-back
third place finishes against similar. His most recent tally was at the $6,250
level around two turns on September 21, where the Oscar Barrera JR. trainee
wired a field of seven by just over six lengths. Donall Fingleton's Eros broke
on top and quickly established the lead. Eros got the first quarter in 23.86
over a muddy surface and a length lead over Midnight Secret. Practical was not
in any hurry while racing along the three path. Midnight Secret moved to challenge
Eros for the lead nearing the half mile pole and tripped the timer for the half
mile in 47.41 with Thomas Marcello's Blue Mambo tracking in third and Practical
Stan a length behind the latter. Midnight Secret and Eros dueled on the last
bend and got to the quarter pole 1:12.19 with Practical Stan picking it up in
third and only had three lengths to make-up. Midnight Secret shook loose from
Eros leaving the three-sixteenth pole and opened up a length but Practical Stan
was finding his best stride. Practical Stan collared Midnight Secret and under
left handed pressure from Nicol proved best by almost a length. Jennifer A.
Nelson's Forbettysboyz was looking for his third straight, closed late to best
Eros for the show spot. Practical Stan got the distance over a muddy surface
in 1:45.41 and earned $12,240. Bred by Dutchess

Wee David rallied to capture "Lakes" feature
David Ahearn's WEE DAVID rallied to nail Emmet Square at the line to
score by a half length in today's $19,600 allowance feature. Trained by Edward
Perdue, Wee David with Pedro Rodriquez in the irons scored his second straight
and third out of his last four starts. In Wee David's most recent tally against
conditioned $10,000 claimers going six panels, Rodriguez stalked the leader
and proved best in the final yards by a little less than a length. Prior to
that score against conditioned allowance foes at the same distance but with
apprentice Elaine Castillo aboard, Wee David failed to fire and finished eighth
but only beaten about five lengths. Before that race, Pedro Rodriquez was in
the saddle and again downed a field of never won two $10,000 claimers going
five and one-half furlongs by just over three lengths. Today, seven rivals which
had never won a state-bred race other than going five and one-half furlongs
went to the starting gate with Betty Jean Murphy's Emmett Square the 8 to 5
choice. Wee David was let go and $4.90 to 1. Trained by leading conditioner
Chris Englehart, Emmet Square was coming off a solid runner-up finish against
similar and the same distance only to lead every step of the way but the final
one to miss by a half length to Aeras. Prior to that race, Emmet Square wired
a field of never won four $10,000 claimers going five and one-half furlongs
by two lengths. John Piazza's Gab Bag broke suddenly and opened up a pair and
a half while getting the first quarter over the sloppy going in 22.34. A trio
was chasing with Exceptional Gift along the rail, Emmet Square along the four
path and Doc's Option between them. Gab Bag continued on with lead and got the
half mile in 45.76 with Emmet Square stalking along the four path, Exceptional
Gift the three path and Wee David making a run along the rail. Emmet Square
moved to collar Gab Bag in midstretch while Wee David was angled out for the
drive. It looked like Emmet Square was going to get the money, but Wee David
responded readily to urging from Rodriguez and rallied to nail Emmet Square
for the win. Gab Bag finished third while Exceptional Gift faded to fifth. Wee
David covered the distance in 1:05.53 and earned $11,760. Bred by David Ahearn

S'more Smoke romps in Finger Lakes allowance feature
Barry Ostrager's S'MORE SMOKE with Parker Buckley up drew off through
the lane to score by just over six lengths in today's $20,100 featured eighth
race. Trained by Jon Buckley, S'more Smoke ran a solid second missing by a little
more than a length to French Hideaway in the $50,000 Jack Betta B Rite stakes
back on August 28 going one mile and one-sixteenth. S'more Smoke had only been
out twice since that game effort in the Jack Betta B Rite where she finished
third and sixth beaten a total of 26 lengths. S'more Smoke's most recent tally
was going six panels in her first start here on August 2 against conditioned
allowance state-breds where she vied for the lead to the top of the lane and
then just like today drew off to score by three in a hand ride with Buckley
aboard. Prior to that convincing score, the Buckley trainee was racing at Ellis
Park and Churchill Downs against $40,000 and $80,000 claimers. Six fillies and
mares went to post which had never won two-state bred races other than going
six furlongs. Flying Zee Stable's Heaven's Thunder who rallied to come up three-quarters
of length short in her most recent going five and one-half furlongs against
similar was sent off as the even favorite. Prior to that, Heaven's Thunder with
apprentice Elaine Castillo aboard rattled off two straight wins in almost wire-to-wire
fashion. Sandra M. Acker's Watral Fool Michel broke on top and quickly took
the lead. Ridden by Carlos Dominquez, Watral Fool Michel got the first quarter
in 22.33 and a length cushion over S'more Smoke in second. S'more Smoke quickly
collared the pacesetter and they dueled on the turn. S'more Smoke shook loose
leaving the five-sixteenth pole and put a quick length on Watral Fool Michel
and stopped the timer for the half mile in 45.35. DeSavino Stable's Wheezer
was racing off the rail on the turn was making a run in third. Parker Buckley
roused S'more Smoke a tad and they quickly opened up four lengths and only a
furlong to go. Watral Fool Michel was still chasing in second but Wheezer and
Heaven's Thunder were getting it in gear. Parker Buckley never really asked
S'more Smoke through the final eighth and in a hand ride proved best over the
rallying Heaven's Thunder by six and one-quarter lengths. Wheezer chased in
the late stages and then missed the place by a neck. S'more Smoke got the six
furlong distance over a fast track in 1:11.30 and earned $12,060. Bred by Equiology

Majestic Miesque wins open allowance at Finger Lakes
One Pond Stable's MAJESTIC MIESQUE held on stubbornly to turn back the
late charge of Ioskeha to score by a nose in today's wide-open $15,200 allowance
test. Trained by leading conditioner Chris Englehart and ridden by leading jockey
John Davila Jr., that was Majestic Miesque second score of the year. Prior to
the Englehart trainee's tally today, the 5 year old gelded son of Miesque's
Son was up against in his most recent on October 17 going six furlongs. Majestic
Miesque vied for the lead to the top of the stretch and then faded to finish
sixth over a sloppy track to the highly regarded Seeking the Money. Before that
disappointing effort, Majestic Miesque wired a field of conditioned allowance
foes going three-quarters by almost four lengths. Six rivals went to post going
six furlongs which had never won four races with Majestic Miesque the slight
choice in the wagering at $1.35 to 1. Carmine Telesca and John & Marilyn
Guerrera's Ioskeha who was coming off a rallying second place finish to Seeking
the Money went off at $1.55 to 1. On paper it looked like a two horse race.
Majestic Miesque the speed and Ioskeha the closer. Majestic Miesque broke quickest
of all and went out to nail down the first quarter in 23.20 with Edward Perdue's
Kid Smokey stalking a length back. Majestic Miesque maintained a one length
advantage over Kid Smokey nearing the quarter pole while getting the half mile
in 46.64 with Ioskeha four lengths behind along the four path and Personal Cide
hugging the rail. Majestic Miesque opened up a length and one-half over Kid
Smokey with Ioskeha a length behind the latter with a furlong to go. It looked
like Ioskeha was going to nail Majestic Miesque at the line but under strong
handling from Davila the duo lasted for a nose decision. Kid Smokey finished
well to clearly be third best while only beaten a length for all of it. Majestic
Miesque earned $9,120 for the score. Bred by John A. and Mary Labagh and Flaxman
& Clay, et al., the 5 year old gelded son of Miesque's Son out of Regal
