Joseph Gentile's GOLDENBERG'S GIFT broke on top and never looked back
to score by five lengths in today's $20,100 featured eighth race. Ridden to
victory by Daniel Centeno, this was Goldenberg's Gift third tally on the year
and sixth overall. Trained by James T. Wright, Goldenberg's Gift has plenty
of early speed and he showed it today. Goldenberg's Gift just got beat a half
length in his most recent against wide-open $12,000 claimers at five and one-half
furlongs on July 22. That was the Wright trainee's first start since besting
a group of NW1X by a head on June 20. That test also was at five and one-half
furlongs and Centeno did the riding. Today's race was restricted to three year
olds and upward which had never won two state-bred races other than at five
and one-half furlongs. Seven rivals went to the post with Arthur Huberfeld's

has a record on the year of six seconds, one third out of seven starts and a
bankroll of $37,070. The Buckley trained runner finished second beaten just
over two lengths in his most recent to the highly regarded Brassy Karakorum.
Before that race, Doc's Option closed well through the final eighth to run second
to High on Madison and was beaten just over a length. Goldenberg's Gift sent
off at $2.95 to 1, broke on top and sprinted clear by three and one-half lengths
over Single Edge while getting the opening quarter in 22.50. Goldenberg's continued
on with a commanding lead and stopped the timer for the half mile in a sharp
45.77. Single Edge was still stalking with Doc's Option two and one-half lengths
behind the latter with a quarter of a mile to go. Goldenberg's Gift was never
threatened and went on to score by five lengths. Doc's Option finished strongly
to best Single Edge by a nose to earn the place. Goldenberg's Gift covered the
five and one-half furlong test over a fast track in 1:04.57 and padded his bankroll
with $12,060. Bred by James T. and Kathryn Wright, the four year gelded son

Ginger N Sugar wins for fun in $20,600 "Lakes" feature
Gabrielle Farm and Dennis Kalick's GINGER N SUGAR ran on by the pacesetter
and in a mild hand ride late proved best by just over two lengths in today's
$20,600 featured eighth race. Trained by M. Anthony Ferraro, Ginger N Sugar
made her first start here on July 17 against NW3X state-breds and finished fifth
beaten seven lengths. That was her start since running at Aqueduct back on October
28 where the daughter of Gold Token proved best by just over two lengths. That
was her fourth career start and her only defeat was on January 21 going six
furlongs at Aqueduct where she missed by a half length to Gold Like U. The Ferraro
trained arrived here with a solid bankroll of $86,000. Today's race was restricted
to fillies and mares which had never won three state-bred races other than going
five and one-half furlongs. The race scratched down to four runners with SalEd
Stable's Show Ready the choice at $1.15 to 1. Show Ready has plenty of early
speed and was coming off a third place finish to Hello Karakorum on July 17.
That test was at six furlongs and the same conditions at today's race. In that
race, Show Ready showed the way to the eighth pole and then faded. She set quick
fractions of 22.12, 45.10, with winner stopping the timer for the six furlong
distance in 1:10.09. Show Ready came into this race with a record of six wins,
three seconds, four thirds and earnings exceeding $152,000. Ginger N Sugar was
the second choice in the wagering at $1.35 to 1. Show Ready with Jose Martinez
in the saddle, broke quickest of all and got the opening quarter in 22.20 and
a commanding four length lead over stalker Ginger N Sugar. Show Ready continued
on setting the fractions while stopping the timer for the half mile in 45.48
with a three and one-half length cushion. Ginger N Sugar responded when asked
and collared Show Ready with a furlong to go. Ginger N Sugar quickly put Show
Ready away and then drew clear while under wraps through the final yards to
score by two and one-quarter lengths. Ginger N Sugar earned $12,360 for the
victory. Show Ready finished clearly second best by five and three-quarter lengths
over Fuzzie's First in third. Ginger N Sugar covered the distance over a fast
track in 1:04.89. Bred by Michael Sloan, the four year old daughter of Gold
Token out of Northern Nation by Northrop now has four career wins out of

Mighty Annie R. earns diploma in fine fashion
Paul W. Barrow's owned and trained MIGHTY ANNIE R. took charge midway
on the turn and then drew clear to earn her diploma by six convincing lengths.
Ridden to victory by Jose Osorio, Mighty Annie R. was coming off a solid effort
in her debut on July 12 against state-bred maiden allowance types going five
and one-half furlongs. In that race, Mighty Annie R. contested the lead from
the outset and then could not match strides through the lane and wound up second
beaten four lengths to Angelique B B with a gap of a length and three-quarters
to the third place finisher Jacomas B. Lady. Today's race carrying a purse of
$17,200 was for maiden fillies and mares bred in the state of New York and contested
at six furlongs. Nine rivals went to the post with Mighty Annie R. the luke
warm choice in the wagering at $2.35 to 1. Also taking action in the race was
Michael S. Ferraro's trained Jamocas B Lady who was sent at $3.80 to 1. Jamocas
B. Lady has only two career starts with her first being at Aqueduct on January
4 of 2004. In her first start here this year she finished third beaten five
and three-quarters lengths. Mighty Annie R. went out to contest the lead while
to the outside of Unaccountably Pink and along rail Gone Whirlin. Gone Whirlin
actually got the opening quarter in 22.57. Mighty Annie R. took charge on the
turn and reached the quarter pole in 46.26 and a commanding two length cushion
over Unaccountably Pink and a length behind the latter in third was Lovely Senorita.
Mighty Annie R. widened some in the lane opened three lengths on Lovely Senorita
with only a furlong to go. In the meantime, Kat's Fairy Tale was angled to the
outside for the drive and appeared to be in gear but had eight lengths to cover
and not much ground to work with. Mighty Annie R. responded to pressure from
Osorio and they drew clear to score by six lengths. Kat's Fairy Tale rallied
to best Lovely Senorita by a length for the place. Jamocas B Lady never fired
and ran sixth. Mighty Annie R. got the distance over a fast track in 1:13.07
and earned $10,320. Bred by Paul W. Barrow, the three year old daughter of Mighty
Magee out Spirits of Mukora by Big Mukora also qualified for $2,064 in breeders'

Satelllite Problem wires 10 in $19,900 feature
OurwayOut Stable's SATELLITE PROBLEM took the lead from the outset and
never looked back to score by just over a length in today's featured fifth race.
Trained by Linda Foster and ridden to victory by Daniel Centeno, this was Satellite
Problem's second win on the year and first ever around two turns. It looked
clear on paper that the Linda Foster trainee was the true speed of the race
and was let go a nice $6.80 to 1. Coming off a five and one-half furlong test
against similar, Satellite Problem vied for the lead to upper stretch and then
faded to run fourth beaten four and one-half lengths to Single Edge. Prior to
that effort, the four year old gelded son of Satellite Sun wired a field of
$10,000 claimers which had never won four races. In that test at six furlongs,
Satellite Problem stopped the timer over a fast track in 1:11.39. Centeno was
along for the ride. The test today was for three year olds and upward which
had never won a state-bred race other than going one mile and seventy yards.
Ten rivals went to the post with Michael S. Ferraro trained Ioskeha the choice
at $2.20 to 1. Ioskeha was coming off a half length loss to Dancin in the Barn
around two turns on July 10. That race had the same conditions as today's test.
In that race, Ioskeha with Joe Badamo astride, was well placed to the lane,
made a move to collar the leader with a furlong remaining, put a head in front,
matched strides to line and then finished gamely only to be denied by a half
length. Jet Pass with John Grabowski astride, stumbled badly at the start and
unseated the jockey. Jet Pass rushed out to take the lead without a rider and
caused some problems into the first turn. Satellite Problem broke on top and
took the opening quarter in 24.57 with a length lead over favorite Ioskeha.
Ioskeha moved to within a half length of Satellite Problem at the half mile
marker with the latter stopping the timer in 48.92. Satellite Problem disposed
of Ioskeha leaving the backstretch and reached the quarter pole with a solid
two length lead in 1:13.96. In the meantime, Just Bagin It with John Davila
in the saddle, lacked room nearing the top of lane and was forced to check.
Just Bagin it found an opening and was looked to be in gear with a three-sixteenth
of a mile to go. Meanwhile, Satellite Problem opened up a five and one length
lead and looked home free. Just Bagin It was flying late but ran out of real-estate
and came up a length and one-quarter short of victory. Regina's Mon finished
well to earn the show spot. Ioskeha faded and finished seventh. Satellite Problem
covered the distance over a fast racing strip in 1:45.91 and earned $11,940.
Bred by Michael C. Hanafin, the four year old gelded son of Satellite Sun out
of Hawk Problem by Regal
Classic now has five career wins and $41,392 in money won. Satellite Problem
also qualified for $2,388 in breeders' awards. John Grabowski walked away unscathed
after falling to the dirt at the start.

Ms Technology captures $19,900 allowance test
Star Track Farm's MS TECHNOLOGY made every pole a winning one to capture
today's $19,900 allowance test by five lengths. Trained by Donna Bireta, Ms
Technology rattled off a pair of scores at the $4,000 level before trying state-bred
allowance rivals again in her last. In her last start going one mile and seventy
yards, Ms Technology was well placed while running in a striking position throughout
but lacked the late needed response and wound up third beaten almost six lengths
to Jelly Roll Journey. Before that third place finish, Ms Technology scored
both her wins going six furlongs. Today's race was for fillies and mares which
had never won a state-bred race other than going one mile and seventy yards.
Six evenly matched rivals went to the post with Mark Valentine's Silent Annie
the luke warm favorite at $2.20 to 1. Silent Annie had been away since May 27.
That race was with allowance state-bred foes around two turns where she finished
a disappointing sixth as the $2 to 1 favorite. Prior to that effort, Silent
Annie finished a game second to King's Lassie beaten a half length. Ms Technology
was dismissed as the second choice at $2.90 to 1. Ridden by Pedro Rodriguez,
Ms Technology went out and contested the lead with Missionary Lady to the outside
and Foxy Elena between them. The trio got the opening quarter in 24.62 and a
gap of almost three lengths to Silent Annie in fourth. Dean Frates aboard Foxy
Elena decided to take back some and let the other two fight it for the first
half. Ms Technology got the half in 49.10 and a half length advantage over Missionary
Lady. Foxy Elena was angled to the rail and not in any hurry. Ms Technology
reached the quarter pole with a length and one-half cushion over Missionary
Lady and a half length behind the latter along the fence was Foxy Elena. Silent
Annie still had almost six lengths to cover with only a quarter of a mile left.
Rodriguez never really asked Ms Technology and in a hand ride proved best five
lengths. Foxy Elena bested Missionary Lady by a head to earn the place. Silent
Annie never fired but ran fourth only beaten a length for the place. Ms Technology
covered the distance over a fast track in 1:47.18 and earned $11,940. Bred by
Michael B. Finkelstein and Thomas E. Podorsky, the five year old daughter of
Technology out of Manor North by L'Enjoleur now has nine career wins and $76,805

Toni's Desire wires 9 in $17,200 "MSW" at Finger Lakes
Michael Schrader's TONI'S DESIRE made his local debut a complete success
when he wired a field of nine by two and one-half lengths. This maiden tally
was his first start on the year and third overall. The John Tebbutt trained
runner made only two starts last year. In his debut at Saratoga on July 28 against
maiden allowance state-bred types, Toni's Desire showed some early speed in
that six furlong test but faded to run tenth. His next start was on September
17 at Belmont Park against similar and the same distance where he stumbled at
the start and never got close and again finished tenth. Before today's race,
Toni's Desire worked out of the gate on July 15 where he bested a group of five
going five-eighths of mile in 1:01.1/5 seconds. Prior to that workout, the four
year old gelded son of Claramount again went five furlongs, but all alone in
1:01.4/5 seconds over a fast track. Today's test was for state-bred three year
olds and upward and decided at five and one-half furlongs. Nine rivals went
to post with Kevmar Stable's Phil's Blue Way sent off the odds on choice at
4 to 5. Trained by Linda Rice, Phil's Blue Way was sent here from Belmont Park
and ran a game second on July 1. That test was at six furlongs and Phil's Blue
Way took command in the lane but could not stand off the late charge from Get
Goin B B and only got beat three-quarters of a length. Prior to that race, the
Belmont invader ran on the lawn against state-bred maidens, where he finished
seventh going one mile and one-sixteenth. Also taking action was Michael Watral's
Watral Dixie Ridge at $3.80 to 1. In his most recent race, the Michael S. Ferraro
trained runner lead every step of the way but the final few and was beaten a
length to Alyfriend. That race was over a sloppy track at six furlongs. Toni's
Desire was let go at a nice $10.40 to 1. Toni's Desire broke well and went out
to get the opening quarter in 22.68 with Watral Dixie Ridge to the outside.
Those two dueled on the turn with Toni's Desire getting to the quarter pole
first in 46.64. Meanwhile, Phil's Blue Way was about five wide on the turn and
only three lengths back in third. Toni's Desire gave Watral Dixie Ridge the
slip and opened up five and one-half lengths on Phil's Blue Way. Phil's Blue
Way was in gear but had to make-up to much ground and Toni's Desire proved best
in a hand ride by two and one-half lengths. Phil's Blue Way finished clearly
best of the rest by just over four lengths. Watral Dixie Ridge finished two
lengths in front of Laird Williamston to secure the show. Toni's Desire covered
the five and one-half furlong test in 1:06.74 over a fast track and earned $10,032.
Bred by Edwin Wachtel, the four year old gelded son of Claramount out of Morning
Toni by Morning Bob also qualified for $2,006 in breeders' awards.

her third straight win in today's $,20,400 allowance test. Trained by Ralph
D'Alessandro and ridden to victory by Pedro Rodriguez, Shesasoprano now has
only one more state-bred condition to conquer. Last year the D'Alessandro trained
runner compiled a record of fourteen starts, two wins, a second, five thirds
and $66,027 in money earned. After today's score by Shesasoprano, the five year
old daughter of Dixie Brass, has six starts, three wins, one second, a third
and $51,639 in the bank. Today's race was for fillies and mares which had never
won two state-bred races other than and was decided at one mile and seventy
yards. Seven foes went to post including the Ralph D'Alessandro's trained entry
of Katies Danza and Shesasoprano. The entry was sent off the odds on favorite
at $1.10 to 1. Also in the mix of the betting public was Thomas Brockley's Senorita
American. Trained by Chris Englehart, Senorita American was coming of runner-up
finish to Heaven's Thunder. Heaven's Thunder drew off to score by four in that
NW2X allowance test going the same distance as today. Senorita American was
dismissed at $$2.30 to 1. Shesasoprano with Pedro Rodriguez aboard, quickly
assumed command and got the first quarter in 24.04, the half mile in 48.03 and
a length lead over White Dragon along the three path and Senorita American just
off the rail. Shesasoprano continued on with the advantage and stopped the timer
for the three-quarters in 1:12.93 and put a length and one-half on the same
stalkers. Senorita American was eased out in the lane and under the whip was
gaining on Shesasoprano and only had a length to cover with a furlong remaining.
White Dragon was steadily dropping back. Rodriguez went to the whip and narrowly
outran Senorita American to line for a half length decision. Katies Danza, the
other part of the entry was angled out five wide into the lane and loomed a
threat but hung in the crucial stages and finished third only beaten three-quarters
of length for all of it. Shesasoprano covered the one mile and seventy yard
distance in 1:44.19 over a fast track and earned $12, 240. Bred by La Marca

length score in today's $19,900 featured sixth race. Trained by part owner Ralph

one-half lengths with a furlong remaining. In the meantime Ardent Sister made
a five wide move into the stretch and was Jelly Roll Journey's only competition.
But Ardent Sister could not sustain the bid and Jelly Roll Journey scored by
three and one-quarter lengths. Ardent Sister finished second by two lengths
over Ms Technology in third. Jelly Roll Journey covered the distance over a
fast track in 1:45.07 and earned $11,940. Bred by Billings Partnership, the

Casper Peterson captures $20,600 allowance test
James McGowan's CASPER PETERSON collared the leader in midstretch and
under steady pressure from jockey John Davila, went on to post a length and
one-half decision in today's $20,600 allowance test. The race was at six furlongs
and restricted to three year olds and upward which had never won three state-bred
races other than. Trained by Michael Hushion, Casper Peterson was making his
first start today since October 29 at Aqueduct where he finished fourth. The
race was at six and one-half furlongs and for wide-open allowance types which
had never won a race other than. The Hushion trainee forced the issue to the
top of lane and then chased to no avail and finished fourth beaten almost five
lengths to Joshua's Jet. Casper Peterson had been working out at Saratoga once
a week for the last month before arriving here. The five year old son of Victory
Speech has been lightly raced with only eleven career starts, three wins and
$112,430 in earnings. Six rivals went to the post including a Jan E. Keuer trained
entry of The Queen's Doc and Pleasant Trick. Casper Peterson, the true class
of the race, was sent off as the odds on choice at 3 to 5. Second choice in
the wagering was One Pond Stable's Black Market. Trained by Sheila Englehart,
Black Market has six wins out of 25 starts and $101,904 in the bank. High On
Madison stumbled shortly after the start but managed to get the opening quarter
in 22.23 and a length lead over Casper Peterson, Black Market and The Queen's
Doc along the fence. High On Madison with Joe Badamo aboard continued on the
setting the fractions while racing just off the inner barrier and got the half
mile in 45.29. Casper Peterson was chasing along three path and Black Market
outside of the latter. High On Madison was collared with a furlong to go by
Casper Peterson and held a two length cushion over Black Market in third. Casper
Peterson responded readily to steady urging from Davila and they edged clear
to score by a length and one-half over Black Market. High On Madison held the
show spot by head over Pleasant Trick. Casper Peterson proved he was ready and
was awarded the winners share of $12,360. The Michael Hushion trained runner
covered the distance in 1:11.04 over a fast track and returned $3.20. Bred by
Robert W. Entenmann, the five year old son of Victory Speech out of Ciro's Seductress

Dancin in the Barn wins $19,900 feature at "Lakes"
Clery L. Sosa's recently claimed DANCIN IN THE BARN got the job done
in today's $19,900 featured eighth race by a half length. Dancin in the Barn
was claimed by trainer Oscar Barrera Jr. for a mere $7,500 in his last race
on June 26. In that never won three test going one mile and seventy yards, Dancin
in the Barn collared the leader in midstretch and then edged clear to post a
length and one-quarter tally. That win was his third on the year and second
over this oval. Dancin in the Barn shipped in here from Laurel Race Course and
ran in a never won two $10,000 claiming event around two turns. The Barrera
trainee rallied to earn the place and was only beaten by a half length. Today's
race was for three year olds and upward which had never won a state-bred other
than going one mile and seventy yards. Eight foes went to the starting gate
including an Oscar Barrera JR trained entry of Grand Kids and Dancin in the
Barn. The entry was sent off at the $1.05 to 1 choice in the wagering. Also
taking action and sent off the second choice at $2.35 to 1 was Ioskeha. Jet
Pass was hustled to the front by leading rider John Grabowski and then they
got the opening quarter in 24.06 and length cushion over Grand Kids. Grand Kids
moved to challenge Jet Pass at the half mile pole while stopping the timer in
47.89. They dueled to the quarter pole in 1:12.87 with a gap three lengths to
Ioskeha and Dancing in the Barn was five lengths back in fifth. Jet Pass began
to tire while Ioskeha moved to collar Grand Kids with a furlong to go. Dancin
in the Barn was in gear and had only a length to make-up. Ioskeha gained the
advantage momentarily but Dancin in the Barn collared him and went on to post
a half length decision. Mesolithic rallied to earn the show. Dancin in the Barn
covered the one mile and seventy yard distance in 1:45.50 over a fast track
and earned $11,940. Bred by Michael C. Hanafin, the three year old gelded son

Alyfried earns diploma in $17,200 "MSW"
Blue Streak Stable's ALYFRIEND came from off the pace to earn his diploma
in today's $17,200 state bred Maiden Special Weight test by a length. Trained
by Edward J. Babcock, Alyfriend has only had four career starts with a record
of two seconds and one third and earning of $8,160. The three year old gelded
son of Alyfoe made her first career start against wide-open maiden allowance
types at Philly Park, where she showed good early speed but faded to finish
eighth in a field of eleven. That test was at six and one-half furlongs and
over a fast track. In her first race over this oval, the Babcock trainee again
ran with wide-open rivals but lead to the eighth pole, but could not match strides
with Lord Buck and had to settle for second place. Alyfriend's most recent outing
was here on June 21 against state-bred rivals going six furlongs. That race
was run over a fast track and Alyfriend with Omar Camejo in the saddle was sent
off the 9 to 5 favorite but lacked the late needed response and finished a respectable
third to Beebe's Famoose. Eight rivals including a pair of entry's went to post
going six furlongs, with Bruce D. Anderson's trained entry of Sir Knight Shot
and World Diplomat the 3 to 2 odds on choice. Alyfriend was dismissed at $2.55
to 1. Under a down pour and over a sloppy race track, Watral Dixie Ridge quickly
assumed command and reached the opening quarter in 22.22 and held a length lead
over World Diplomat. Alyfriend was racing just off the inner barrier and was
about six lengths back in fourth. Watral's Dixie Ridge with Joe Badamo in the
irons got the half mile in 46.62 and put a length and one-half on stalker World
Diplomat. In the meantime, Alyfriend was angled out into the lane and still
had about six lengths to make-up. Watral Dixie Brass looked like he was home
free, but Alyfriend found another gear and he came rolling to collar Watral
Dixie Ridge in the late stages and won going away by a length. Laird Williamston
finished well to best World Diplomat for the show by a three-quarters of a length.
Alyfriend covered the six furlong test over the sloppy going in 1:14.48 and
earned $10,320. Bred by Cheshire Ridge Farm LLC., the three year old gelded
son of Alyfoe out of My Gray Lady by Iron Constitution also qualified for $1,032
in breeders' awards.

Carlow rallies to capture $50,000 Niagara Stakes
Seahorse Stable's CARLOW rallied to capture the $50,000 Niagara Stakes
by three-quarters of a length. Trained by Karl Grusmark, Carlow only started
once this year and that was at Belmont Park on June 8 against NW1X going six
furlongs. In that test, the three year old daughter of Forever Silver came from
slightly off the pace to get with in a length and one-half of the leader with
a furlong remaining and then could not sustain the drive and finished second
to Cassette Case. Since that solid effort, the Karl Grusmark trained runner
had a bullet workout at Suffolk Downs. She went a half mile in 48.06 breezing
over a fast track. The racetrack here today was favoring speed. The Niagara
Stakes is restricted to three year fillies and was contested at six furlongs.
Nine evenly matched three year old fillies went to post with William P. Cook's
the luke warm $2.00 to 1 choice in the wagering. Trained by John Tebbutt, Bombay
Dreams shipped in from Philly Park on June 17, where she trounced a field of
seven by just over ten lengths. That contest was at five and one-half furlongs
and for fillies and mares which had never won a state-bred race other than.
Prior to that convincing tally, Bombay Dreams bested a field of wide-open $16,000
claimers at Philly Park by almost two lengths. That test was at six furlongs
and over fast track. Also getting support in the wagering was Dragon Squared
LLC's Speed Bag. Trained by Jeff Odintz, Speed Bag was also coming from Belmont
Park where she finished third in her most recent going six and one-half furlongs
in the $60,000 Dancing Renee. At age three, Speed Bag already has five wins
to her credit and $154,510 in the bank. Sweet Sweet Molly broke on top and she
got the opening quarter in 22.03 with a half length lead over Bombay Dreams
and Champagne Ending. Carlow was running fifth about three and one-half lengths
back and not in any hurry. The trio reached the quarter pole together with Bombay
Dreams stopping the timer for the half mile in 45.07. Speed Bag was angled out
four wide into the stretch and only had three lengths to make-up. Champagne
Ending was the first one to trip the timer for five furlongs and four others
with a chance at the $30,000 winners share. Bombay Dreams had enough, while
Speed Bag was in gear to the outside and Carlow was ready to split foes with
a furlong to go. It looked like Speed Bag was going to get the money, but Carlow
moved to her inside and those two headed to the finish line. Carlow responded
to Joe Badamo's stick and they went on to prove best by three-quarters of length
over Speed Bag. Champagne Ending finished third. Carlow covered the six furlong
test in 1:10.67 over a fast track and earned a cool $30,000. Bred by Dr. Cary
Shapoff, the three year old daughter of Forever Silver out of Folly Go Rightly
by Distinctive Pro now has two career wins out of 11 starts and $73,705 in earnings.
Also Carlow qualified for $6,000 in breeders' awards.

Keesler makes it four straight in $50,000 Arctic Queen
Heiligbrodt Stable's KEESLER proved best by a length and one-half in
today's $50,000 Arctic Queen Handicap. Trained by Steven M. Asmussen, that was
Keesler's fourth straight victory. Keesler has only started 14 times in her
life and won half of them. The race today was a handicap for fillies and mares
bred in New York State and contested at six furlongs. Seven rivals went to the
starting gate with Keesler going for her fourth straight was sent off at odds
of 2 to 5. 3,600 fans were on hand to celebrate Independence Day and to watch
Keesler to her thing. Keesler broke well with Parker Barkley in the saddle and
they reached the opening quarter a head behind Flora Mac Flimsey in 23.01. Keesler
was along the fence and Ava Marisa between them. Flora Mac Flimsey got to the
quarter pole in 46.01 with a half length lead over Keesler and Ava Marisa. So
Sweet a Cat who won five races last year, was angled out five wide into the
lane and appeared to be in gear. Keesler had not been asked yet by jockey Julio
Pezua and they reached the eighth pole with a half length cushion over Ava Marisa.
Flora Mac Flimsey was dropping back. So Sweet a Cat loomed a threat to the outside
of Ava Marisa but hung. Keesler was roused by Pezua leaving the furlong marker
and then in a hand ride proved best by a length and one-half over the fast closing
Perty Number. Ava Marisa bested So Sweet a Cat by head to take the show spot.
Keesler covered the six furlong test in 1:10.66 over a fast track and earned
$30,000. Bred by Thomas/Lakin, the
four year old daughter of Gilded Time out of Amazing Madeline by Gulch now has
$210,780 in money won and also qualified for $3,000 in breeders' awards.

High On Madison proves best in $20,100 allowance race
Carl J. Riedel's HIGH ON MADISON made every pole a winning one to take
today's $20,100 allowance test by a length and one-quarter. Listed as the 3
to 1 morning line favorite by Carl Anderson, High On Madison was dismissed at
$7.40 to 1 and returned a nice $16.80. Trained by M. Anthony Ferraro, High On
Madison last raced here on May 31 and was sent off the 4 to 5 choice and finished
third beaten a length to Whosgottejohnnie. In that state-bred conditioned allowance
test at six furlongs, High On Madison was never far back, moved to collar the
pacesetter in midstretch and then could not handle the fast closing Whosgotthejohnie
and Doc's Option. That was only his second start on the year. In his 2005 debut
here against similar, High On Madison was well placed throughout but was no
match for shipper Scary Bob and finished third. Scary Bob ran away and hid by
six and one-quarter lengths over Midnight Secret. Today's test was at five and
one-half furlongs and restricted to three year olds and upward which had never
won two state-bred races other than. Eleven rivals went to the starting gate
with Slippery Slick the $1.45 to 1 favorite. Trained by John Parisella, Slipper
Slick was coming off a head lose to Notonetoquit on June 5. Prior to that solid
effort, The son of Distinctive Pro drew off through the lane to score by just
over four lengths against never won three allowance types. High On Madison was
hustled from the gate by Joe Badamo and they went out to contest the lead with
Emmet Square and Wee David. High On Madison got the opening quarter in 22.48.
High On Madison took command on the turn and reached the quarter pole in 45.95
with a two and one-half length advantage. Star of Rome was chasing along fence
and Slippery Slick was far back. High On Madison was never threatened and went
on to win by a length and one-quarter over the late running Doc's Option. Star
of Rome held on for a share. Slipper Slick never got it going and finished tenth.
High On Madison stopped the timer for the distance over a fast track in 1:05.35
and earned $12,060. Bred by Joseph Lostritto, the six year old gelded son of
Lit de Justice out of High Terrace by Wolf Power now has six career wins and
$128,091 in money won. High On Madison also qualified for $1,206 in breeders'
awards.

Brassy Karakorum captures $19,600 feature
Richard Nicolai's BRASSY KARAKORUM made amends today when he downed a
field of eight state-breds to capture today's $19,600 allowance feature by six
and three-quarter lengths. Trained by Sheila Englehart, Brassy Karakorum stumbled
at the start in his first trip over the track this year and still managed a
solid third place finish. That race was on June 20 against the same he faced
today going five and one-half furlongs. In that test, Brassy Karakorum was sent
off as the second choice at 2 to 1, stumbled at the start and then bumped hard
with Rebel Song letting speedster Goldenberg's Gift sprint clear. Last year
the Englehart trained runner scored four times out of seventeen tries and earned
$67,213. The race today was at six furlongs and restricted to three year olds
and upward which had never won a state-bred race other than. Eight rivals went
to post including the Englehart trained entry of Brassy Karakorum and Joe'sdancing
Angel. The entry was sent of as the odds on choice at 3 to 5 and rightly so.
Brassy Karakorum with John Davila astride went out and contested the lead while
three abreast with Blast Off actually getting the quarter in 22.32. Rodeoactive
was along the fence and could not keep up. Brassy Karakorum and Blast Off dueled
on the turn and got the half mile in 45.44. Abagintwo was making up some ground
on the turn and had only three lengths to make-up. Brassy Karakorum gave Blast
Off the slip and took a three and one-half length advantage with a furlong to
go. Davila never really asked Brassy Karakorum for much but they widened through
the final yards to win by just shy of seven lengths. Abagintwo closed ground
and finished clearly second best by there and one-quarter lengths over Joe'sdancing
Angel. Speedster Radioactive was fractious in the gate and was looked over by
the track veterinarian before the start. Brassy Karakorum got the six furlong
test over a fast track in 1:10.41 and earned $11,760. Bred by Bill Antoniou,
the four year old gelded son of Dixie Brass out of Blues Cure Blues by Cure
the Blues now has five career wins and $81,051 in money won. Brassy Karakorum
also qualified for $2,352 in breeders' awards.
