Sure Bet: Saratoga Meet in 2011

ALBANY — In a radio interview, New York Racing Association president Charles Hayward defended the agency’s decision to approve executive pay raises and said that the races will run at Saratoga Race Course in 2011 despite ongoing financial uncertainty.

“Saratoga is going to run next year and it’s going to run just as well at is did this year,” Hayward said Tuesday morning during his appearance on WCNY’s The Capital Pressroom with Susan Arbetter.

While admitting that long planned capitol improvements at the historic track will be postponed at least another year, Hayward said the 2011 meet is expected to offer $105 million in purses, the same amount paid out in 2010.
