A Year-End Message from Executive Director Tracy Egan

The Jockey Club is reminding breeders to NAME THEIR FOALS of 2009 so they don’t have to pay a $75 late fee to select a name. TIP: Check the recently released names page at the Jockey Club website; chances are you’ll find a name you like and the Jockey Club will approve. Sure, every once in a while a smart a** slips through a name like “Isitingood” or “Your Inate,” but you don’t want to take a chance on rejection and you surely don’t want to have to pay an extra $75 to name your foal. So I recommend naming your yearlings that will turn two on January 1 before February, when the JC imposes the late fee.

STALLION UPDATE: As of Dec. 29, the Fund has received applications for 63 stallions. As long as your application is postmarked before Dec. 31st, you can pay just $250 to register your stallion. After that, you must pay $500 to register your stallion by February 15th. You can read more about the registration process here at our website.
