Dear Breeders, Owners and Stallion Owners,
Thanks to the athletes you bred and raced, the NY Thoroughbred Breeding and Development Fund (NYBreds.com) is sending out more than $3.2 million in award checks today, Wednesday, September 3rd. This dollar figure represents 90 percent of the $3,579,011 earned by your horses in July and August. We expect to be able to return the ten-percent holdback amount in early January 2015. The holdback was instituted by the Fund Board of Directors several years ago to ensure that there is sufficient money to pay awards equally throughout the year.
Here’s a breakdown of where the awards were earned:
a $ Awarded (90%) # of Awards
Breeder 2,335,040.11 493
Stallion 516,926.61 78
Owner 369,143.28 130
Total $3,221,110.00 701
We hope you’ve noticed the ads the Fund has placed in venues such as the Thoroughbred Daily News (TDN) and the Blood-Horse. We are constantly reminding the industry that you produce quality Thoroughbreds such as this summer’s Grade 1 stakes winners Palace and Artemis Agrotera, and that no other state matches the racing opportunities, purse money and awards available to registered NY-breds. Keep up the good work.
Sincerely,
Tracy Egan
