Chewing Gum (Candy Ride (Arg) – Shared Heart, by Forestry), winner of the 2022 G2 Joe Hernandez S. at Santa Anita, will stand beginning with the 2025 season at Rockridge Stud in Hudson, NY, it was announced today. He will stand for a partnership including prominent New York owners Wachtel Stable and Pantofel Stable.
Chewing Gum broke his maiden at Kentucky Downs for breeder Wertheimer & Frere. Fourth in the G3 Fred Hooper early the following year, he followed that up with a second-place finish in the G3 Belmont Inv. Turf S. later that fall. The following season he ran 2nd in the G1 Jaipur S. (to Casa Creed) at Belmont, running a career-high Beyer of 99. In early 2022, he won the G2 Joe Hernandez S. over Beer Can Man.
“We are planning to purchase mares to support Chewing Gum and help him get started. Chewing Gum is a big, beautiful horse that was able to win sprinting and at middle distances on turf and on dirt against top competition. I think that New York breeders will love him,” says Adam Wachtel of Wachtel Stable.
Chewing Gum is the only son of successful sire of sires Candy Ride (ARG) standing in New York. His 2025 stud fee will be private, and a limited number of shares will be offered to approved breeders. He will be available for inspection in a few weeks.
He joins the Rockridge roster with Americanrevolution, Disco Partner, Mind Control, Slumber, Tourist, and War Dancer.
